The rising star power of the new cable channel jTBC has been taking K-pop fans by storm, with dramas like Padam Padam and variety shows like SNSD and the Dangerous Boys.

jTBC’s latest drama is called Syndrome and is a medical drama starring Han Hye Jin (The Book of Three Hand) and Song Chang Ui (Cinderella Man). Generating some press for the drama, NH Media’s boy group U-Kiss just released an OST track for the drama titled “Remember.”

The sad song is about the regrets of a man who lost his lover over small issues. It’s a bit of a break from the current U-Kiss style of beastly choreography and strong electronic beats, but it’s a break that’s appreciated nonetheless.

Comedian and MC Kang Ho Dong may be making his return to the Korean variety show scene as early as March. After a tax evasion scandal in September, Kang Ho Dong retired from the entertainment industry temporarily to reflect upon his actions.

Although there have been reports that Kang Ho Dong is set to return to Strong Heart once Lee Seung Gi leaves to film his drama King 2 Hearts, but people close to Kang Ho Dong according to Newsis have stated, “There has been nothing decided concerning [Kang Ho Dong's] return to broadcast shows.”

“There has been talk of him returning on some program, but even Kang Ho Dong himself is unaware of this,” said the source.

Before his withdrawal from the industry, Kang Ho Dong was the MC for Happy Sunday – 1 Night 2 Days, Strong Heart, and Star King among others. Hopefully he comes back to MC these programs once again. He was cleared of all charges of tax evasion a while ago, but it looks like he is still hesitant to return to the national spotlight. Hopefully this upcoming opening on Strong Heart encourages Kang Ho Dong to return to the entertainment industry — his humor is sorely missed. Remember Park Ji Yoon? Of course you do.

The former teen idol has returned with her eighth album, Tree of Life.

Having been MIA from the music scene for nearly 3 years, Park Ji Yoon kicks off her dancing shoes and picks up her guitar — stripping her sexy idol image and venturing into new territory as an indie artist.

For this album, Park Ji Yoon collaborated with various indie artists such as No Reply, Dear Cloud, and Asher Park, establishing herself as a musician and gaining some rapport with indie music fans.

She also set up her own company (Park Ji Yoon Creative) in 2009, giving her the freedom to take creative control of all her work.

Park Ji Yoon was most famous for hits such as “Adult Ceremony“, “Go Away“, and “Steal Away.” She has also undertaken various acting projects in recent years, including the rom-com drama Lie to Me, which starred Kang Ji Hwan and Yoon Eun Hye.

Her new album Tree of Life was released through iTunes and Korean music portal sites on February 20, 2012.

With over 250,000 presales for their upcoming mini album, Alive, Big Bang‘s February 29 return may just be the biggest comeback of 2012 yet. And this time, they’ll be promoting all the songs off their album (with the exception of the intro).

At midnight on February 22, Big Bang released the music video for “Blue,” the first of the six songs the group will be promoting. Shot entirely in New York City, the music video embodies the gentle tone of the track, which easily falls in line with previous singles such as “Love Song” and Daesung‘s “Baby Don’t Cry.” But there’s a sense of comfort present: “Blue” contains all the same themes we’ve seen before — longing, emptiness, sorrow — but the blend of acoustic guitar, piano, and electronic sounds (coupled with the members’ effortless, relaxed vocals) make for an unexpectedly heartwarming track.

“This will probably be the last melodrama of my life / and the curtain’s finally closing…” It’s as if they’ve given up, surrendered to all the pain and loneliness, and now they’re just singing their blues — resigned, but not all that unhappy anymore. Big Bang has laid out the best proof of their self-reflection and growth after a whirlwind year of controversy and pointed fingers.

Initially, fans were conflicted to hear the final total of six title tracks, wondering how on earth the Big Bang members would be able to promote all six without overworking themselves. With the release of “Blue,” it seems that all worry has transformed into excitement at the prospect of seeing “Blue” and five other equally-as-impressive tracks performed onstage.

The first concerts for Big Bang’s ALIVE world tour will take place on March 2-4 at Seoul Olympic Park. Stay tuned for the full album release, along with the three music videos Big Bang will be revealing in the coming weeks!

Girl group miss A dropped their mini album Touch on February 20, and they’ve topped the online music charts once again!

Written, produced, and arranged by JY Park himself, the title track “Touch” follows the story of a hurt soul who discovers a new love “blooming from the pain.” The combination of the eerie old-school instrumentals, the unexpected style of choreography, and the overall slower tempo of the track has made “Touch” one of the more surprising releases from miss A since their debut: Surprising, but still entirely characteristic to JYP and miss A.

The music video — with a trippy kaleidoscopic intro that netizens have been clamoring over — gives fans an idea of what “Touch” will look like on stage, with its detailed-oriented choreography and haunting wardrobe. AQ Entertainment has stated that fans can look forward to miss A’s “new and improved charms and drama-like stage performances.”

The nominees for Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards have been revealed, and the Wonder Girls have been nominated for Favorite Asian Act!

The girls will be up against some tough competition such as Agnes Monica from Indonesia, Charice Pempengco from the Phillippines, and Yuna from Malaysia (who had been up against 2NE1 for MTV Iggy’s Best New Band 2011).

K-pop fans in France had big reason to be excited because on February 8th, KBS took its music program, Music Bank, to Paris! The broadcast of the show was shown last night, finally giving fans something more to look at than shaky fancams.

One performance that stood out in particular was the performance of “Les Champs Elysees.” There were multiple special stages with tributes to artists such as Daft Punk and will.i.am.

Girls’ Generation, T-ara, U-Kiss, 2PM, SHINee, Beast, 4minute, and SISTAR all sang the song together in French. The song is by Joe Dassin, and the lyrics describe a charming day at the Champs-Élysées, a street in Paris famous for its cinemas and cafes. It is one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world.

In addition to the “Les Champs Elysees” stage, there were multiple dance special stages and another stage where 2PM’s Junsu, SHINee’s Taemin, Beast’s Hyunseung, and U-Kiss member Kevin sang “More Than Words” by Extreme.

Whoz that girl with Lee Soo Hyuk, you ask?

Fresh out of AB Entertainment, the six girls Yooji, Dami, LE, Junghwa, Haeryung, and Hani are members of Shinsadong Tiger’s new girl group EXID (pronounced E-X-I-D).

For those who are not familiar with Shinsadong Tiger, he’s a famous music producer who produced hits such as T-ara’s “Lovey Dovey” and “Bo Peep Bo Peep”, Beast‘s “Fiction”, and 4Minute‘s “Mirror Mirror”.

Their title song “Whoz That Girl” has more of an old school sound since Shinsadong Tiger used analog instruments instead of synthesizers. It’s still your typical catchy K-pop tune but without all that auto tune, which is a good thing since you can actually hear their actual voices.

It’s kind of hard to believe this group is a bunch of rookies since they are all so talented. Maybe it’s because members Yooji, Junghwa, Haeryung, and Hani were trainees in JYP for 3 to 4 years before officially becoming members of EXID. LE was also featured in Huh Gak’s “Whenever You Play That Song” before her debut.

The new SBS Monday – Tuesday drama Fashion King will be spending two weeks filming in New York City during Fashion Week. The drama has been grabbing headlines not only because it is filming overseas, but because of its star studded cast including Shin Se Kyung, Yoo Ah In, Lee Je Hoon, and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri.

The drama will be filming at a fashion school in New York as well as various locations throughout Manhattan. The first scenes were shot with Shin Se Kyung and Yoo Ah In at St. Mark’s Place in the East Village area of Manhattan. Fans have also been spotting NYPD signs for Fashion King filmings at locations near Times Square and Washington Square Park.

It was also reported that Yuri went out and searched everywhere for the perfect Valentine’s Day gifts for all of the production staff. She handed out cards and chocolate to everyone, drawing praise from the staff.

Fashion King will be filming for two weeks in New York, after filming scenes in Las Vegas last week. The drama’s plot will follow two designers who struggle to make names for themselves in Korea that eventually find success worldwide. The drama is set to premiere on March 12.

Are you looking forward to this drama? With Girls’ Generation member Jessica also in the midst of an acting stint with Wild Romance, it seems like everywhere you go you see Girls’ Generation.

That makes 11. With only one member left to be revealed, fans are beginning to take renewed interest in the group’s impending debut. After an exhausting couple of months of teaser after teaser, it’s finally begun to sink in that, yes, EXO WILL be debuting!

The fifth mini album contains seven songs, of which “Blue” and “Bad Boy” have been labeled title tracks. The two songs were composed by G-Dragon and former 1TYM member Teddy with the arrangements done by Teddy for “Blue” and Choice 37 for “Bad Boy.”

The mini album is set to release on February 29 and will be the first Korean studio release for Big Bang since the special edition of their Tonight EP, which was released back in February 2011.

In the meantime, YG has been marketing the comeback by releasing teaser images of the members, starting with T.O.P followed by Daesung and Taeyang. All of the teasers feature the members with oxygen masks on, as well as one of the tracks from the album written as part of the logo for Alive.

After a bit of teasing and mysterious marketing from SM Entertainment, Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and Brown Eyes‘ Yoon Gun released their duet track “Don’t Say No” today!

The song is a “pop serenade” about a love confession. It was composed by Yoon Gun, who is currently on High Kick 3: Revenge of the Short Legged playing himself in the role of a music teacher.

In an interview released by SM, Yoon Gun reveals that he was looking for a clear and pure voice to fit into the song and that Seohyun fit the bill perfectly.

The song is very beautiful and is available to download on iTunes. The collaboration really seems to work and hopefully crossover veteran-idol duets and collaborations like this become a trend.

Do you wanna be (like) Block B?

Well for fans who have been following the group’s promotions on for their latest album, the “gorilla dance” choreography to their title track “Nanrina” will already be familiar.

The hip hop group under Cho PD’s label Brand New Stardom just released a dance version to the music video of “Nanrina,” although it differs a bit from traditional dance videos. The camera pans back and forth as the boys dance on the rooftop set from the original music video.

Welcome to the Block has been well received by both BBCs and new listeners. However, the mini album did run into a little trouble with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and KBS banning two of the songs on the album (“LOL” and “Did You or Did You Not?”) for being “vulgar and inappropriate.”

Despite this, promotions for “Nanrina” have been going strong. Best of luck to Block B as they deal with their rising stardom!

Their comeback concert, titled “The Return,” is set to have tickets go on sale February 13 at 8PM (Korea time).

Shinhwa is one of the most storied idol groups in the industry. After a very successful run with SM Entertainment from 1998 until 2002, the group then left the company, completely shocking fans, and signed with a new label and continued to enjoy success. Now, Shinhwa is under their own company — appropriately called Shinhwa Company — coordinating group activities on their own, despite individual members being signed to different agencies.

With anticipation for their comeback album and concert growing, fans have been re-watching the group’s 10th anniversary concert videos, skyrocketing the number of views.

The concert will be held on the 24th and 25th of March at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul.

It’s exciting to see all the members back from the army and continuing the legacy of K-pop’s longest running group of all time. Excitement is definitely building, especially among older fans of K-pop who remember the days of Shinhwa, H.O.T, and Fin.K.L.

All the SONEs out there have reason to get excited: Seohyun of Girls’ Generation is set to release a duet single soon!

According to the Girls’ Generation Facebook page, Seohyun will be releasing a duet with “the owner of a red neck warmer.” The teaser had fans guessing counterparts from Heechul to Jung Yonghwa of CN Blue.

Fans caught on quickly when Yoon Gun from Brown Eyes tweeted, “The clear and pure voice of a girl is inside.” Along with the tweet was a picture of a sweet potato, Seohyun’s well-known favorite snack.

A screen capture of the Korean music chart Melon’s “Coming Soon” page also confirms that Yoon Gun and Seohyun will be releasing their collaboration track on the 13th.

This is the first solo release from Seohyun since “Banmal Song” which was produced during her time on We Got Married. Fans of both Seohyun and Yoon Gun are hoping for promotions, especially because Brown Eyes is no longer an active group.

Since the premiere of James Cameron’s Avatar, Hollywood has been churning out one 3D movie after another. Now it looks like the K-pop industry is getting in on the action as well!

BEAST‘s encore solo concert tour Welcome Back to B2ST Airline has been produced into a 3D movie set to premiere on February 23 all over Korea. The concerts were held at large scale venues back in February 2011.

BEAST is currently in the midst of their world tour, Beautiful Show, which is set to hit 35 destinations. In addition, a third single is still set to be released sometime in April after the first two singles “I Knew It” and “Living Without You” were released on January 26 and February 3 respectively.

The release of this movie adds to the impressive amount of work BEAST has been doing recently, including being part of United Cube Live in NYC here at MTV K. Hopefully the boys aren’t being too overworked! The movie is sure to impress and delight B2utys all over Korea. The movie will include never-before-seen backstage and rehearsal clips from the concert as well.

In case you missed this January gem, we weren’t kidding about having our eye on girl group SPICA.

The fabulous rookie ladies from B2M Entertainment follow up their debut single, “Potently,” with a game of chance in “Russian Roulette.” SPICA’s mature and edgy 90s R&B-inspired aesthetic lives on in this impressive title track off the group’s first mini album, set to drop February 9.

Opening with all five members sitting roundtable-style, “Russian Roulette” showcases an intriguing vintage style full of warm tones and shadowy lighting. The girls make it clear that they’re willing to go to extreme lengths to hold onto their dying relationships, singing lines like, “Hey baby, I’ll count to three and pull — bang, bang bang. It’s time to test my luck, let it begin.” And just for good measure, they casually wave around shiny, lethal weapons (all while looking incredibly stunning, obviously).

With a single like “Russian Roulette,” it seems like SPICA is working to live up to their name, which stands for “Sonic Princesses Infinitely Creating Anarchy.” Boasting a mean roster featuring former Five Girls member Yang Jiwon and Superstar K contestant Park Narae — plus multiple handguns — it’s safe to say that SPICA is one dangerous rookie group we’d be silly to sleep on.

International VIPs officially have reason to celebrate!

Not only will Big Bang be releasing their fifth mini album on February 29, but the five-piece boy band will launch a world tour in March, spanning 25 cities in 16 countries. I suppose this is Big Bang’s way of thanking their fans for winning them the Worldwide Act Award at the MTV EMAs back in November.

YG Entertainment has joined forces with Live Nation and renowned tour director Laurieann Gibson (who last directed Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour) for Big Bang’s first worldwide tour.

As Big Bang joins the likes of Super Junior and BEAST by jumping on the world tour bandwagon, 2012 is quickly shaping up to be one of the busiest years for K-pop idols yet.

Big Bang’s ALIVE TOUR 2012 will begin in Seoul on March 2-4 and travel across Asia, North America, South America, and Europe.

YG Entertainment just released a concept photo that shows Big Bang member T.O.P sporting blue hair and some interesting leather clothes. He also has what looks like an oxygen mask on. Hopefully all (or at least some) of this will make sense to us as more information on Big Bang’s highly anticipated comeback comes out.

Meanwhile, the text on the photo says, “Alive – Big Bang – Fantastic Baby” in a rainbow of colors. YG also released the track list to Alive which will include seven tracks produced by G-Dragon. The mini-album is set to be released on February 29.

There’s a lot at stake here for both Big Bang and YG Entertainment. This mini-album will be the first group comeback since “Tonight” and “Love Song” promotions last year. Most recently, the 5 member group has been promoting with their label mates through the YG Family Concerts in Korea and Japan. After dealing with two controversies with members Daesung and G-Dragon, hopefully the boys come back stronger than ever and blow everyone away.

To cap off the week, an event was held at the Union Square Best Buy on February 2 where the girls signed autographs on copies of The Boys. Unfortunately, only 300 spots were available to the countless SONEs. So what exactly did it take to secure one of those 300 coveted spots?

Although Best Buy had announced that the line would begin at 6 AM, SONEs started forming an unofficial line around the block around 10:30 PM. The first fan in that line, Charles Kelly, had come up from Virginia for the chance to meet the girls. “There was no way I was going to go back home empty handed,” said Kelly. Apparently many fans had the same idea and by 1 AM over 100 fans had already lined up.

Braving the New York City cold on the sidewalk, fans waited outside, doing whatever they could to keep warm as over 7 hours passed. At 6 AM, Best Buy kept true to its promise and started letting SONEs through the door. However, the battle wasn’t even half won at that point. After only the first 300 fans in line being let in, another two hours were spent waiting inside the Best Buy as the store employees prepared to distribute CDs and wristbands.

After the lucky 300 got their wristbands and albums, it was off to recover for many of them after spending a night out in the cold. Although many took advantage of the time between receiving the wristbands and the fan sign event, some truly dedicated fans decided to wait it out in Union Square all day in order to be one of the first ones through.

While waiting outside for the line to start, SONEs kept the energy up, singing along to “The Boys” and other Girls’ Generation songs, and when the tour bus pulled up to the sideof Best Buy, a huge cheer went up from the crowd. At 5 PM fans started to be let in to line up. The line stretched around the entire store, causing Best Buy to close down the building to shoppers at 6:30.

Finally, the hour of the event  had struck and the girls came out on cue, prompting a chorus of screaming from the lucky fans that could see them. The line started moving and for 300 lucky fans, the chance of a lifetime was coming true. Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Yoona, Seohyun, Sunny, Taeyeon, and Yuri sat in order brightly smiling, waving, shaking hands, talking, and of course, signing away. Unfortunately, Jessica had left the night before due to drama filming back in Korea and was unable to attend the event.

In the end, Girls’ Generation got to meet some very dedicated SONEs and share a memorable experience with them. Hopefully this is only the start of many more events. K-pop has definitely made a lasting impact on the people in New York City who got a glimpse of it this past week. The employees at Best Buy told us that they hadn’t seen this many people crowd around a bus since Lady Gaga was in town!

Mnet M! Countdown kicked off the new month with an exciting broadcast laden with anticipated comeback stages.

Featuring memorable performances from boy group Block B, rapper Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls, and band F.T. Island, this was one episode fans definitely didn’t want to miss. Whether you decided you just couldn’t physically handle live-streaming the show at its ungodly hour, or simply want to relive your favorite comeback stage, we’ve got you covered.

The lovable fellas of Block B recently dropped their second mini album, Welcome to the Block, along with catchy title track, “Go Crazy.” Fans rightfully expected an explosive comeback stage from a group known for its crazy antics — and that’s exactly what they got. Clad in dark fur jackets, the members returned with incredible energy and a fun new dance.

Now that she’s finally gone solo, rapper Miryo delivered a fierce debut performance for her sassy single, “Dirty.” A playful, upbeat song about getting revenge instead of sulking over a heartbreak, “Dirty” boasts a downright funky concept that fans are loving. Miryo flaunted a vibrant style and some serious flow for an impressive solo debut.

And of course, the talented members of F.T. Island wowed fans with their cozy, acoustic performance of “Hope You’ll Be My Lover,” followed by a fantastic stage for title track, “Severely.” The band transitioned from an overall gray theme to a sleeker, all-black style that looked great against the bright stage. Leave it to these guys to always deliver solid instrumentals and strong vocals!

It’s been 14 years since Miryo began pursuing a career in music. 12 years since she officially joined Honey Family, back when the hip hop group housed rappers like Leessang‘s Gil and Gary. And almost 3 years since Brown Eyed Girls finally hit it big with “Abracadabra.” But there was always something missing.

Until now.

The Brown Eyed Girls rapper has finally quenched her thirst to make music that’s entirely her own, debuting with her self-produced solo album MIRYO AKA JOHONEY on January 31.

“I feel like a real adult now, because I’m responsible for everything this time. And I like it, because I’ve finally fulfilled my dream of doing my own music,” the Brown Eyed Girls rapper told reporters.

There’s a long list of supporters who helped make Miryo’s solo debut possible. In addition to fellow B.E.G member Narsha (“Leggo”), Leessang’s Gary and indie band The Koxx (“Party Rock”), reggae duo Rude Paper (“Revenger”), and Girls’ Generation’s Sunny (“I Love You I Love You”) all lent their vocals to the five-track mini album. MIRYO AKA JOHONEY is a refreshing blend of pop, rock, electronic, and even a bit of dubstep, giving us a strong dose of Miryo’s taste in music.

She’ll be taking the stage this week to perform her title track, “Dirty.” As seen in the music video, the funky pop-rock song puts a playful twist on the idea of a lost love. Instead of moping around in self-pity, the heartbroken woman imagines hilarious forms of revenge in order to move on with her life.

Hip hop idols Block B are back, and they’re out to score a spot among the K-pop heavy hitters, armed with the most attitude and confidence we’ve seen from them yet.

One of MTV K’s most anticipated comebacks of 2012, this powerhouse rookie group has just released their second mini album, Welcome to the Block.

They’ve promised fans that they will flip the music industry upside down with this comeback, following suit to the cocky lyrics found in their latest title track: “I bet you’re dying (follow me, baby) because everything about me is perfect (goo goo gaga goo goo gaga) Just look at me, lady. Doesn’t it make you wanna go crazy?”

“Go Crazy” (or “Nalina/Nanrina”) beat out over a hundred other candidates for the honor of title track, and the high-energy single has peaked the interest of industry players for being mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Ken Lewis, who has done work for big names like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Eminem.

Welcome to the Block is yet another solid mini album by Block B, featuring five brand new tracks written and produced by leader Zico and member Park Kyung. The album also boasts the handiwork of artists and producers like XEPY, Delly Boi, Rhymer, and Phantom leader Kiggen.

Unfortunately, prior to the release of the album, KBS deemed the tracks “LOL” and “Did You Do It or Not?” unfit for broadcast for their use of “vulgar expressions.” BBCs have mobilized to speak out against the ban with an online petition.

Block B will be make their comeback on music shows this week, beginning with M!Countdown on Thursday, February 2.

After putting on an exciting performance last night on Late Show with David Letterman, the ladies of Girls’ Generation showed no signs of stopping, heading to the taping for “Live! with Kelly” early this morning.

Tickets to the show were near impossible to get, especially on such short notice, so SONEs took to braving the city as early as 3 in the morning for standby tickets. By 7 AM, almost 50 fans were lined up, drawing the attention of the producers. The hosts gave a shout out to all the dedicated fans waiting outside during the show, cutting to shots of SONE’s in the audience and waiting outside the studio.

The Girls’ Generation bus pulled up on cue at 7:45, energizing the tired fans who had been waiting in the cold and rain. The girls came out waving and smiling at fans as they went into the studio.

In addition to Girls’ Generation, Jennifer Lopez had an interview during the show with comedian Howie Mandel guest-hosting.

In contrast to the remix performance on Letterman, the girls performed the album version of “The Boys” with a few minor edits. Kelly and Howie caught onto the ways of K-pop fans quickly. Kelly noted, “I’ve never seen such audience participation in my life!” Well, Kelly, welcome to the world of K-pop!

The girls even showed Kelly and Howie how to do the choreography to the chorus of “The Boys.” The hosts did a quick interview, with Cali girls Tiffany and Jessica taking the lead. All in all, another great T.V. appearance for Girls’ Generation!

Girls’ Generation made their U.S. television debut tonight on Late Show with David Letterman performing their hit single, “The Boys“!

The girls arrived at the Letterman studio around 1PM on January 31, taking the time to sign autographs for the dedicated fans waiting outside. Although their appearance outside was brief, the moment that they shared with their fans was definitely appreciated.

After the quick meet and greet, the girls went inside to record the show. Bill Murray also made a guest appearance, showing up in a football uniform celebrating the Giants going to the Super Bowl and even attempting to kick a field goal.

Watching the hour-long show, SONEs showed support through Twitter and Facebook, posting their updates live while they watched the show. A movement on Twitter to trend #welovesnsd hit its peak during the broadcast of The Late Show, with fans expressing their excitement through tweets with the hashtag. The tag got all the way to third on the US trending topics list.

The girls finally came on at the end of the show, performing a remix version of “The Boys” with a live band. The girls gave a great performance, prompting an “Oh, here we go. Here we go. Here we go!” from David Letterman as a reaction to the performance. He even gave the girls a quick “Kamsahamnida” (Thank you in Korean). As far as introductions onto national television go, this definitely caught the attention of viewers nationwide.

After a year and a half, R&B artist Se7en makes his long overdue Korean comeback with the extra special, JYP-produced single, “When I Can’t Sing.”

Thanks to the track’s impressive production and heartfelt message, Se7en, once again, delivers something fresh and engaging. The mid-tempo R&B single is definitely easy on the ears, highlighting the singer’s smooth vocals that ask, “If I can’t sing anymore and find another job, will you be able to continue loving me just for who I am?”

Through “When I Can’t Sing,” Se7en brings up concerns shared by many of the industry’s artists, who surely question the depth of their fans’ support and adoration from time to time. But honestly, Se7en has nothing to worry about — we’re certain that Lucky 7s will forever and always support him!

“When I Can’t Sing” marks the first time YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment have teamed up for a single, leaving excited fans wondering if additional collaborations between the two labels are in the works. After all, it’s not often that a YG artist partners with an external producer. The song is one of six tracks off Se7en’s second mini album, which includes a couple hits off the singer’s recent Japanese album, Somebody Else.

After dozens of teaser images and videos, EXO-K and EXO-M — collectively one of this year’s most anticipated debuts – have finally released their first full single, “What is Love.” The song is a good introduction to what fans can expect from the SM’s newest project when their full debut album drops in February.

And it’s got Yoo Young Jin’s name all over it.

True to the composer’s recent affinity for urban R&B tunes, “What is Love” may sound just a tad familiar to fans of TVXQ and… well, any SM artist (see TVXQ’s “Before U Go” and S.M. The Ballad‘s “Hot Times“).

SM has also revealed that “What is Love” was the result of a collaboration between Yoo Young Jin and Teddy Riley, who has now become a familiar face in K-pop after his work with RaNia, Jay Park, and Girls’ Generation.

SM revealed both the Korean and Chinese versions of the music video on January 30. The Korean version introduces two new members, D.O. and Baek Hyun — the main vocalists in “What is Love.” As of today, nine members of EXO have been revealed: Kai, Lu Han, Tao, Chen, Se Hun, Lay, Xiu Min, Baek Hyun, and D.O.

Following the announcement of some Stateside promotions for “The Boys,” it’s been revealed that Girls’ Generation has made an appearance on the Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart, which includes “the week’s top-selling albums by new or developing acts.”

“The Boys” currently sits at #22 as a debut track for Girls’ Generation. The album is also asterisked for having the greatest airplay and sales gains this week.

In addition to the Heatseekers Albums appearance, “The Boys’ also placed 2nd on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Even without any formal promotions for their album in the U.S., Girls’ Generations is rapidly climbing the charts and gaining recognition.

Although it isn’t an appearance on the main chart for Billboard, breaking out into any of the charts is a feat worthy of recognition. Other than when SM Town came to New York City and sold out Madison Square Garden, along with an exclusive interview for MTV K, the girls haven’t done many promotions for their U.S. debut album. With these accomplishments and a unexpected slew of promotions in the United States coming up this week, U.S. SONE’s have a lot to look forward to and cheer about.

R&B group Brown Eyed Soul has produced wonderfully emotive solo albums from each of its members, and this time is no different with the youngest Young Jun releasing his solo debut album Easy.

Young Jun’s crooning voice carries the romantic sentiments on this album, particularly in title track “Forget.” In the music video, he walks through a snow-topped field, at first alone, then accompanied by the memory of his love. Reminiscing the playful snowball fights they once had, he gets wrapped up in the moment and snaps back to reality, finding the image of her gone.

Easy is perfect for this cold season with its various winter-themed songs and sounds that are perfect for a cozy evening in across a fireplace.

Fans of Girls’ Generation in and around New York City have been mobilizing for the return of their favorite idol group! It has been announced that the girls will be returning to New York to appear on national television.

The episode details on TVGuide for the popular morning talk show “Live! With Kelly” on February 1st show that the guests of the day will be Jennifer Lopez, Howie Mandel, with a performance by “South Korean pop group Girls’ Generation.” The news was met with surprise as the idea of the girls returning to the States only existed in the dreams of fans until the announcement.

In addition to the “Live!” appearance, SMTOWN has also confirmed through their Facebook page that Girls’ Generation will also be performing on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on January 31. Fans have been clamoring to reserve tickets to the taping for a chance to see their girls live.

Girls’ Generation released the U.S. version The Boys on January 17, which included the English version of “The Boys” as well as the remixes released in the maxi single (including  a feature by Snoop Dogg) and select songs from the original Korean version of the album.

It’s definitely an exciting time to be a K-pop fan! With idols increasingly appearing on television, it’s clear that the Hallyu wave has hit the States full force.

As one of this year’s most anticipated debuts, six-member TS Entertainment boy group B.A.P has caused quite a stir with the release of their explosive new single, “Warrior.”

After a string of teaser photos giving fans glimpses of each member, B.A.P finally came together for a stunningly powerful debut music video.

“Warrior” features a gritty, industrial concept that clearly reflects the group’s hard, get-down-to-business image. We’re loving their no frills, simple style of black wifebeaters paired with classic Timberlands, which, thankfully,  doesn’t take away from the colorful production’s graffiti-heavy setting. The song’s strong urban sound is further enhanced by some impressive breakdancing and step dance moves, making B.A.P quite the versatile group.

Being deemed as “best, absolute, perfect” implies that B.A.P has high standards to live up to, but judging from these rookies’ fearless demeanors, they won’t have any problems delivering a solid round of debut promotions.

Every single time H.O.T’s Tony Ahn pops out on a variety show and performs “Candy,” my heart cries a little and yearns for a group reunion.

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, the kings of Korean boy bands, Tony Ahn and Moon Hee Jun brought back the big gloves, white overalls, and bold colored turtle necks to perform one of K-pop’s most legendary songs, “Candy,” on MBC’s Idol Alkkagi Championships.

Super Junior’s Shindong and Boyfriend’s Dong Hyun and Kwang Min joined their sunbaes to bring back an iconic musical piece from the 90s. Idols danced, laughed, and remembered a time where guy-liner and tight colorful skinny jeans were unimaginable.

Comprised of members Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony An, Lee Jae Won, Moon Hee Joon, and Kangta, H.O.T rose to the top with their infectious singles and quirky dance moves back in the day of first generation idol groups. After much success, the boy band disbanded in 2001, but still remain a legend — as the K-pop idol group that started it all.

Idol Alkkagi Championships “Candy” Performance

f(x)’s Luna is now a television actress, folks! The SM artist made her TV acting debut on TV Chosun’s new drama, Saving Ahjumma Goo Bong Sil.

The drama revolves around 50-year-old Goo Bong Sil, who moves to Seoul with her family after the death of her husband and becomes a best-selling author. Luna plays Go Bong Sil’s youngest daughter, Seo In Young, a naive college student. A PD for the drama praised Luna for her rookie acting skills and her ability to cry on cue. Fellow idol star SS501’s Kim Kyu Jong is also in the drama.

While Luna is busy filming for her new drama, her fellow f(x) members are keeping themselves busy too! The group’s leader Victoria, is in China trying her first stint at acting in the upcoming Taiwanese drama, The Prince Without A Castle. Member Krystal is occupied filming MBC’s High Kick 3. The group was last seen (minus Krystal) attending the 26th Golden Disk Awards in Osaka, Japan.

Saving Ahjumma Goo Bong Sil will air in December of this year.

After five successful concerts across Korea earlier this winter, two of Korea’s most beloved ballad singers, Sung Si Kyung and Lena Park (Park Jung Hyun), flew over to LA and New Jersey for two reprisal concerts of their “Love Concerto: That Year’s Winter” tour for their fans in the states earlier this month. Titled “Love and Hope,” these two shows were adapted from the original concerts, which according to Lena Park, were laid out like a musical, chronicling a winter’s love story through a series of duets and individual performances.

On January 15, the two singers found themselves at their final (sold-out) show together at Prudential Hall in Newark, New Jersey. The night began with a couple duets, “Quando Quando Quando,” which included a short dance break — with Sung Si Kyung shyly following Lena Park’s lead as all the women in the audience cheered him on — along with a breathtaking cover of Brian McKnight and Mariah Carey’s “Whenever You Call.”

As the two singers introduced themselves, it quickly became apparent how much more comfortable Sung Si Kyung was with speaking to the audience, which makes sense after his years of experience as a radio DJ. “We promise to do our best tonight, so you get your money’s worth, since we know tonight is a one-time deal.”

The night soon broke off into two acts: Sung Si Kyung began his set of six carefully-selected songs with “First,” the title track off his most recent album, and appropriately moved onto his debut single, “The Road to Me.” After reading some messages from fans in the audience, Sung Si Kyung went on to sing a couple of his bigger hits, “It Would Be Nice” and “On the Street.”

Sung Si Kyung’s consistency is perhaps his greatest appeal as an artist. By consistency I mean the unchanging stability in his vocals; it’s not often that singers can sing just as well as they do in audio recording — and in Sung Si Kyung’s case, the crowd was given exactly what they expected.

The first half of the night quickly came to an end, with Sung Si Kyung’s witty remarks (“…and here’s a break-up song for all the couples here tonight”) and thoughtful commentary playing a big role to help move the show along.

After a saccharine duet performance of “We Were Good Together,” Sung Si Kyung said his goodbyes and turned it over to Lena Park.

Lena Park, who debuted in 1998, made it a point to acknowledge that it was I Am a Singer that brought her all this renewed interest in her. She sang both her chart-topping covers of Cho Yong Pil’s “I Hope It Would Be That Way Now” and Lee Jung Seon’s “By Chance” — the former eliciting perhaps the biggest crowd response of the night.

Her song selections were a bit different from Sung Si Kyung’s in that she chose songs that were close to her heart. Which meant they weren’t necessarily fan favorites, such as the English “Hey Yeah” off her sixth album and her rendition of “The Only Exception.” Regardless, she had the whole theater in awe as she showed everyone exactly what 14 years of experience onstage brings. Whether it was during her harmonies with Sung Si Kyung or her explosive vocals at the climax of her solo performances, Lena Park was on fire that night. Makes you wonder, how on earth does a voice that big come from a woman that small and petite??

The finale performances were without a doubt the highlight of the evening: The audience was out of their seats and clapping/jumping along to “Sunset Glow” (originally by Lee Moon Sae and covered by many Korean artists over the years, including Big Bang).

And no one would ever have guessed they’d be witness to one of the sweetest marriage proposals that night. An audience member from Orlando, Florida drove up to New York City to take his long-distance girlfriend of three years to this concert and wanted to propose to her. Upon reading his message, Sung Si Kyung excitedly invited the man onstage. Cheers and whistles filled the stadium as the now-engaged couple had their unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime moment in front of 3,000 people.

Shouts for an encore flooded after their bittersweet rendition of “A Scar Deeper Than Love” (originally a duet between Lena Park and Yim Jae Beum), and the couple answered with the most epic performance of the night, Moulin Rouge‘s “Come What May,” that had everyone holding their breath, so as not to miss a single moment.

The three hours may have dragged on a bit during the individual sets, but the evening seemed to end in a flash, and as audience members filed out of the theater, murmurs of how impressive the duo were live carried through the halls.

In an idol-centric music industry, it’s both a wonder and a relief that artists such as Sung Si Kyung and Lena Park can come perform in the states. Granted, a heavy majority of the audience that evening was Korean or Korean-American, but it’s thanks to the whole Hallyu phenomenon that Korean artists’ eyes are being opened to their fan bases abroad.

Singing superstar, Se7en, took to his me2day account to thank all the fans who came out to support the YG Family 15th Anniversary Concert. The family tour held four shows in Japan and three in Korea. A whopping 200,000 fans attended the mega-concert in both countries, making it an enormous hit for the agency. Their last concert at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan alone garnered 40,000 fans! Jinusean, Gummy, Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1, Tablo, and Se7en all headlined the successful anniversary concert.

In addition to thanking his fans, Se7en also mentioned a new album in the works! The solo star just released a Japanese single and will embark on a Japanese promo tour around the country. The mini album entitled Somebody Else was released in three different versions just last week.

Before Se7en made his comeback in 2010, the artist took a 3-year hiatus from the Korean music scene.

Se7en attached a photo of him and Big Bang’s super-delicious-god-of-hotness, T.O.P, who will also make a comeback with his group in the coming months!

Kim Hyun Joong celebrated his 2012 KIMHYUNJOONG Fanmeeting in Seoul with an insane crowd of 6,000 fans! The pretty boy performed his singles, “Let Me Go,” “Breakdown,” “Kiss Kiss,” “Lucky Guy,” “One More Time,” and “I’m Your Man,” making the crowd go wild.

Kim Hyun Joong also took the time out to participate in a segment called Kim Hyun Joong, The Problem Solver, where he gave advice and solutions to his fans’ problems. At one point during the show, the singer brought out his two dogs (aww!) on stage to do tricks and entertain the audience. Kim Hyun Joong and his exorbitant number of fans all gathered at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium to celebrate the event.

The singer-actor will release his Japanese debut album on January 25.
